IP Applications Directors and OfficersKelly Edmison, Chairman of the BoardKelly brings a wealth of business skills, experience and contacts to IP Applications. An active member of the Vancouver technology market for the past decade, Kelly has practiced law for over 20 years, spending his early career in Calgary and Hong Kong before joining Ladner Downs (now Borden Ladner Gervais) in 1985 where he practiced securities and commercial law for ten years. Upon leaving Ladner Downs, Kelly established his own practice focused exclusively on representing Vancouver-based junior technology companies and within five years, the companies he represented closed over forty financings raising aggregate proceeds in excess of $200,000,000. Kelly has also been a director of many public companies including eDispatch.com Wireless Data Inc. (TSX: IQ) and Carmanah Technologies Corporation (TSX:-V CMH) as well as serving as Secretary for ALI Technologies Inc. (formerly TSE: ALT) and a number of other high profile venture capital-financed companies. In addition to his role as President and CEO of the Pender Financial Group Corporation, he serves as Chairman of the Board for Pender Growth Fund (VCC) Inc., a diversified venture capital fund that invests in technology companies within the province of British Columbia. K.G. Rasmussen, DirectorMr. Rasmussen is a partner in Ansera Ventures Ltd., an investment firm focusing on technology based companies and is currently the President and CEO of Cengea Solutions Inc. a firm specializing in providing spatially enabled solutions to the Forestry and Agricultural industries. He is the former President of TELUS International, a subsidiary of TELUS Communication Inc. that offers information technology services outside of Canada. Prior to that, Garry was the founding President and CEO of Information Systems Management BC Corporation (ISM-BC), which, when acquired by TELUS, was Western Canada's largest full service information technology firm operating across Canada and in Asia and Latin America. At its peak following the acquisition, ISM-BC had more than 3000 employees and $500 million (CDN) in revenue. Prior to joining ISM-BC, Garry worked in the financial services industry, first as a chief administrative officer at Merrill Lynch Canada for over five years, and later as a consultant for various financial institutions. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Garry had a successful career with IBM Canada in a variety of systems, engineering, and management positions, leading to his final position as IBM Canada's Director of Information Systems. Garry has a degree in Civil Engineering from Carleton University. David Roberts, DirectorDavid brings 25 years of senior operational and investment-related experience to IP Applications and has served in executive positions and as director of both public and private technology companies in the information technology, communications, and life sciences sectors. During the late 1980s, he was retained as an industry champion for the British Columbia Science Council and launched a range of strategic initiatives to accelerate the funding, development and commercialization of technology ventures. This led to a role as Chief Financial Officer for ProNet Communications, Inc., an Internet services company he co-founded. From 1994 through 2000 he was the Chief Financial Officer and VP Corporate Communications of Kinetek Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a venture capital backed drug discovery company. From 2002 through 2007 David held various senior positions within the Pender group pf companies including President of PenderFund Capital Management Ltd., President of Pender Growth Fund and President of Pender NDI Life Sciences Fund. His is currently Entrepreneur in Residence at Pender Financial Group, the Chairman of ActiveState Software, a Vancouver company that improves the productivity of software developers, and, the Chairman of Municipal Software, a Victoria company that delivers enterprise and SaaS solutions to local governments. David has also served as a mentor to the MBA program at the University of British Columbia and on advisory boards to industry organizations that include the Vancouver Enterprise Forum, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, The Science Council of British Columbia, and New Ventures BC. John Jacobson, President & CEOJohn Jacobson has more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur and business leader at a number of technology product and service companies. He has an Honours BSc in Chemistry and Physics and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. Before joining IP Applications, John was President and Chief Executive Officer of Offshore Systems International Ltd. During his seven years at OSI, he built the company into the global leader in electronic navigation displays for navy vessels by partnering with some of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies. From 1988 to 1996 John worked with MacDonald Dettweiler and Associates Ltd. as a Project Manager, Director of Engineering Services and Administration, Business Manager for Aeronautical Information Systems, and ultimately as the Chief Operating Officer of the PSC Group subsidiary. When the PSC Group was spun out as an independent company in 1996 he continued as its President. Under his leadership, PSC Group became Geotrain Corporation, the world’s largest outsourced training partner for Cisco Systems, with operations on three continents.
